I read an article about diversity in a classroom, and I found it really interesting, because it talked about different methods that a teacher can use to gear their lessons towards all types of students. A classroom can be diverse by race, gender, sex, learning style, and level in the class. When planning a lesson for a class, a teacher needs to be aware that not all students learn in the same way. Some students need visuals and some need to actually experience the material hands on. Throughout the year the teacher should experiment with many methods so that all students have a fair shot of learning.
In my opinion, it is very important for students to use technology in the classroom. In a technology based society, students will need to know how to use different devices and the classroom should be their first experience. Even though computers should be used in the classroom, teachers need to be careful that the students are using the computer in a proper manner. Teachers will need to pay more attention to what each student is doing, and although this create an added stress, it is important that the child is not being exposed to anything not age appropriate. To be more prepared for the future, students should be exposed to different kinds of technology in the classroom.
I think that using music in the classroom is very important to a child's development. By integrating music into each class the students can thoroughly develop their math and science skills. A student's math skills would increase because the child would be learning to count and divide measures. Being able to keep with the beat of the song will also help the child in math. Not only will music help a child's math and science skills, but it will also expand their creativity. Teachers can have the students create beats and rhythms. Each student will come up with their own sound and learn to be more unique.
Personally I think that listserv is a unique idea, but I am glad that I am no longer receiving all of those emails. I would literally get 70 emails in one day, and I didn't even understand what they were all talking about. I didn't check my email for a day and 200 emails had accumulated in my inbox. One thing that I did like about listserv, was the fact that one person could write a comment and a lot of other people with feedback on the issue could immediately respond. The person would end up getting at least 30 emails about their question.
